There’s a lot to keep up with, so we’ve wrapped up the biggest news from the small screen into one neat little package.
GAME OF THRONES’ EPIC FINALE
The conclusion to Game Of Thrones Season 7 brought us a wight dragon destroying the Wall, an uneasy truce between siblings Cersei (Lena Headey) and Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) and the demise of Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) – but all that was overshadowed by the related-but-they-don’t-know-it Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) getting it on.
THE BLOCK BLOWS UP
Georgia and Ronnie found themselves at the centre of a cheating scandal when Jason called a body corporate meeting to accuse them of straight-up copying the styling of their kid’s room from an image from an interiors store’s Instagram.
Georgia was brought to tears, calling the other teams “sore losers”.
CBS BUYS CHANNEL TEN
US television company CBS announced that they would be purchasing Network Ten, repaying its estimating $123 million debt and taking ownership of TEN, ELEVEN, ONE and Tenplay.
They also revealed plans to launch their streaming service CBS All Access in Australia as part of the takeover.
HAMISH AND ANDY GO TOO FAR?
GoT’s aunt-nephew sex wasn’t the only finale plot to gross out viewers, with some fans of Hamish & Andy’s True Story left feeling ill after the last episode.
Telling the tale of Sam, his mate Hindu and a series of dares, the final task involved getting up close and personal with poo.
Fans took to Twitter to slam the episode, and even Andy Lee’s mum told him it was revolting!
BYE BYE, LISA
In a shock move, Matty sent gorgeous blonde Lisa Carlton packing in Thursday’s episode of The Bachelor.
Once thought to be a frontrunner in the battle for Matty’s heart, fans were surprised that he got rid of her over Elora, who had tried to break the rules by sneaking a pash with him at the cocktail party.
SAM ARMYTAGE VS. KATHY GRIFFIN
US comedian Kathy Griffin did the Aussie TV rounds to promote her upcoming comedy tour, and during a live cross on Sunrise, things got a little heated.
After host Samantha Armytage asked whether Kathy felt she’s gone too far with her controversial “beheaded Trump” photo shoot, the star told Sam: “You’re full of crap. Stop this.” Sensitive topic, much?
THE PROJECT HITS BACK
After an anti-same sex marriage ad launched last week, the team behind The Project released their own scathing takedown, which quickly went viral.
Offering “behind the scenes” footage from the original ad, the video cheekily attacked the firmly anti stance while showing support for the LGBTQI community.
At over 460,000 views on their Facebook page and counting, it seems the message is reaching the masses!
ABC SLAYS WEDNESDAY
Local comedy reigned supreme – over everything but The Block, of course – with Utopia (744,000 viewers) and Mad As Hell (721,000) out-performing all of the commercial TV offerings, including Doctor Doctor and Criminal Minds, on Wednesday night.
Aussie TV audiences clearly love a good laugh.
NO MORE HOUSEWIVES?
The Real Housewives of Sydney may not be returning for a second season, with a cast member telling Confidential that the stars are “all just waiting” for Foxtel to make a decision.
The first season was slammed by many viewers for being too nasty – yep, even by Real Housewives standards!
STUDIO 10’S MILESTONE EPISODE
Ten’s morning TV offering Studio 10 celebrated in style this week as the panel discussion show aired it’s 1000th episode.
Hosts Joe Hildebrand, Jessica Rowe, Sarah Harris, Ita Buttrose and Denise Drysdale gave us a star-studded look back at their favourite moments, with special messages from celeb pals.
LITTLE BIG HIT
Seven’s new series Little Big Shots, a children’s talent show hosted by Shane Jacobson, proved to be an adorable hit with viewers.
With 1.67m Aussies tuning in, LBS became an instant hit. Seven made the right move waiting for Australian Ninja Warrior to air before launching it!
NINA SAYS GOODBYE…FOR GOOD?
The seventh season of Offspring ended this week, with most of the show’s storylines wrapping up neatly.
The feel-good finale, which saw Nina (Asher Keddie) happily pregnant with her boyfriend Harry’s (Alexander England) baby and even Billie (Kat Stewart) finding love, leading some viewers to suspect it might be the last time we see the Proudmans, ever.
KARL GETS THE GREENLIGHT
Nine’s Karl Stefanovic-hosted series This Time Next Year, featuring Aussies making pledges to change their lives, will bring us even more touching tales with the network renewing it for a second season.
