There’s no chance of wiping the huge grin from Justin Hartley’s face, because he has every reason to smile.
Not only is the US actor starring in one of America’s top dramas, This Is Us, but Justin is still glowing from his wedding to actress Chrishell Stause.
“I have a great life right now,” the 41-year-old tells TV WEEK.
The actor is relishing his time on the set of This Is Us and is thrilled to be working with such a talented cast.
“I get to do this phenomenal show where they trust me with this amazing character,” Justin says.
“Then I go home to my lovely wife and wonderful daughter [13-year-old Isabella with his ex-wife, Lindsay Hartley].”
The former The Young And The Restless star married 36-year-old soap actress Chrishell in Malibu last October.
The couple met four years earlier through a mutual friend.
“I love it,” Justin says of married life. “It’s the best thing you can imagine. If you marry the right person, it’s fantastic.”
But while Justin is kicking all sorts of goals in his own life, things couldn’t be more different for his character in This Is Us. He warns things are about to take a dark turn.
“I’d say, of all the characters, he’s the one you’re going to be the most surprised by the actions he takes and how his life unravels,” he reveals.
Kevin refuses to deal with the death of his father, Jack (Milo Ventimiglia). And it sends him on a downward spiral. All the emotions Kevin has supressed as a teenager surface.
“We start to see how much his dad’s death and not having his dad through his formative years has played havoc with his state of mind,” Justin reveals.
“He’s his father’s son – so every time he bottles something up and keeps it to himself, it’s going to make it worse.”
Meanwhile, what fans are really keen to know is how Jack actually dies.
It’s been a well-kept secret since the death was revealed early in season one of the hit series. And only a few hints have been dropped along the way.
In season two, fans will finally get the answer they’ve been waiting for. And Justin says it will blow people away.
“It’s pretty remarkable,” he teases. “You won’t see it coming.”
When Jack’s final moment does come, you’ll surely be needing tissues.
There aren’t many episodes that won’t have viewers in tears. Even Justin, who has read the script countless times and knows what’s coming, finds it moving.
“We’ve got together a few times and watched some of these episodes,” Justin shares.
“And the whole room is crying – it’s crazy. Everyone knows what’s going to happen – nothing is a surprise. But everyone is crying.”
