She’s already been on Australia’s Got Talent and The X Factor Australia. But Jacinta Gulisano admits it was “really hard” to return to TV for The Voice auditions.
“I felt pressure that if I didn’t turn a chair [make a coach turn their chair at the auditions], everyone would think I’m not good enough solo,” the former group singer says.
“I was freaking out and panicking.” Jacinta made it to the top four with the group Third Degree on The X Factor in 2013.
After the show, the trio released a single. But Jacinta says rapper Kelebek “went MIA” and hasn’t seen her since. While mentor Natalie Bassingthwaighte tried to help out Jacinta and fellow member Jordan Rodrigues, the duo fizzled.
“She was such an incredible mentor,” Jacinta recalls of Natalie.
Since then, the Sydney singer has spent lots of time and money on trips to the US, hoping to launch her singing career.
“I can’t keep doing it,” the 24-year-old explains.
“I want to buy a house at some point in my life.”
Now, Jacinta feels The Voice is her last shot at becoming a recording artist.
“I’m not going on any more TV shows!” the blonde laughs.
Happily for Jacinta, she has a very supportive boyfriend in the audience at the blind auditions.
Jacinta has been dating 24-year-old rugby league player Finlay Dibley for nearly two years.
“When we first met, he didn’t know anything about the music industry,” she explains. “I liked that. He was oblivious to it all.”
But Jacinta is quick to confirm she and Finlay have no plans for marriage or starting a family yet.
“I’m old for music, but I’m young for all that!” the singer laughs.
