Since Sophie Monk was announced as The Bachelorette Australia 2017 back in April, there have been plenty of rumours about her part on the show.
From the former Bardot singer’s pay cheque to the contestants vying for her heart.
Now the 37-year-old comes clean exclusively to Woman’s Day about the truth behind all the headlines…
She had to apply to be the Bachelorette
Sophie admits she was so desperate to find love she saw no option but to apply for the show.
“I had to persuade the show to take me on. They weren’t sure because it’s not really on brand with The Bachelor to bring someone like me in, but I’m so glad they did.”
She knows haters are going to hate
“Not everyone’s going to love you, especially on a show like this. You just have to prepare yourself and know what you’re in for.”
Dating really scares her
Sophie admits she’s still a dork at heart, especially when it comes to dating.
“I’m so awkward. Half the time I was giggling,” she tells us.
“I always give off the wrong message, too, so when I like someone it looks as if I hate them. I’ve learnt to open up a bit more on the show.”
The truth behind that whopping pay cheque
It was reported Sophie would earn a hefty $300,000 to star on the show – but she denies it.
“I’ve missed out on money, if anything – because I’ve missed out on so much work!” she laughed.
Shy in the sack
“People expect me to be wild in the bedroom just because I don’t wear any clothes online – but that’s not me at all. I’m really shy.”
And she makes guys wait!
“My brother taught me not to jump into a sexual relationship because guys are opposite to girls,” the star confesses.
“Once guys have sex they’re done – whereas girls fall in love!”
On her image overhaul
“The stylist said we needed to change up my style, which I agreed with.”
“Anytime I dress myself I get worst dressed, so I’ll wear whatever she tells me to.”
“ I love it!
Matty J gave her the best advice
She hasn’t spoken to any former Bachelorettes – but Matty J did advise her to ”just be yourself.”
“He’s awesome and his series has been a good watch.”
Despite rumours the pair could be romantically linked, Sophie insists they’re just good mates who have turned to one another for advice.
Sophie Monk has FOUND love… And it’s the real deal
Smiling, Sophie admitted to us, “I’d love to get married and have kids with him.”
“We’re on the same wavelength!”
