They’ve been working on The Block Australia together for the past 10 seasons, so when it comes to picking a winner, Scotty and Shelley sure know what to keep an eye out for.
We asked the hosts of the show to share their thoughts on each team and let’s just say, things get pretty candid.
Scotty’s thoughts on Jason and Sarah: Look, Jason and Sarah have got good design eye and great heritage eye. They’ve just got a few dramas with time management and budget.
Shelley’s thoughts on Jason and Sarah: They live in an area close to The Block so they know what that potential buyer is all about and what they’re looking for. They also had their kids close by for longer, so there wasn’t that initial heartache that a lot of our contestants get leaving their families behind. Their weakness is a being a little bit more mature, and I say that tongue in cheek because I think they’re still younger than I am but you do get quite set in your ways. And with The Block you really do need to test yourself.

Scotty’s thoughts on Clint and Hannah:
They’re rookies and they’ve never renovated before. They’re going through a great learning curve and they’ve been fantastic at having a go. They have struggled to make some decisions early on, but they just really have a go and get stuck in to it. They have learnt a lot on the job and listened to feedback and really enjoyed the process at the same time. They’re really good contestants and they’re really nice people.
Shelley’s thoughts on Clint and Hannah:
They’re such beginners! They are our beautiful rookies and such a lovely couple and they only get stronger as a couple. Every time I see them they are really enjoying the experience and having an absolute blast together.
Scotty’s thoughts on Ronnie and Georgia:
They’re dynamic and an incredible team and they budget beautifully. Their time management is incredible and their enthusiasm is fantastic. They are amazing people to have on the show. I think they’d be in there with some of our best contestants ever.
Shelley’s thoughts on Ronnie and Georgia:
They are consummate professionals aren’t they? I think The Block is the 11th house that they’ve renovated and it shows. They’re both very good at wearing their hearts on their sleeves and they tell it how it is – to each other as well as everyone else – and that hasn’t gone down so well with some of the other teams. But Ronnie put it quite succinctly when he said, ‘I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to win’. So that’s their motivation the whole way through.
Scotty’s thoughts on Sticks and Wombat:
They’re fantastic – great guys, a great team and a lot of fun. They work really hard and no matter what comes up they always seem to resolve it. Sticks is a great carpenter and Wombat is a great shopper, so they’re a match made in heaven.
Shelley’s thoughts on Sticks and Wombat:
When I heard we had a team called Sticks and Wombat, I was like, ‘Oh please let’s not be that show’. But they’re not. I don’t even know what their real names are and I don’t actually want to know. They’re doing a great job and we’ve seen them grow.
Scotty’s thoughts on Josh and Elyse:
They are cool as cucumbers. They remind me a bit of Kyal and Kara. He’s a really good chippy and a detailed perfectionist and does it his way. She is actually a fantastic designer and she’s doing a great job.
Shelley’s thoughts on Josh and Elyse:
Josh is here for his craft. Kyal and Kara were the last team that I would recognise as real craftsman, and it’s all about the quality and the finish. Josh is really lucky that Elyse has a real design eye, even though that’s not her profession, that can style up his beautiful carpentry.
