It’s all come down to this.
After 12 weeks of back-breaking labour and plenty of drama, all five luxury homes on The Block will go under the hammer this weekend.
But Perth plasterer and resident pot-stirrer Ronnie Caceres isn’t confident all the renovated homes will be snapped up.
“It’s going to be tough,” he says. “Five houses selling on the same day… I’ve been keeping track of the Melbourne market and it seems to be going OK. But if you don’t have a nice house, it might not sell.”
Ronnie is careful not to mention any names. But the 41-year-old has been vocal throughout the season about his dislike of rival contestants Jason and Sarah – and their eye for design.
“I hope everyone does well out of this,” he says. “But this is real life, and if the buyers aren’t there, there’s nothing you can do about it.”
Ronnie points out that homes have failed to sell on The Block in the past. He says he and wife Georgia, 33, have steeled themselves for that outcome.
“We’re aware of all the scenarios that could play out,” he says.
“But I think we’ve hit the brief and we know who the buyer is. We wouldn’t change a thing in our house.”
