Brothers, Shannon and Simon had a wild first week but still somehow managed to present a fresh, clean and contemporary room. Dubbed “the masters of detail,” after delivering a near perfect room, the judges absolutely loved the sophistication and simplicity of the room and said it felt more like a master bedroom rather than a spare.
The judges were particularly impressed by the balance of timber floors, the wall, charcoal carpet and drapes used in the boys room and the painting finishes were superb. The 5-foot cactus the boys put in the corner and the huge artwork, also proved to be a clever styling selection and so to was their well thought-out walk-in wardrobe. “It’s got that real Scandinavian feel to me,” Neale said.

Despite running out of time, AFL player turned chippy, Darren and his wife Deanne, delivered a cosy and welcoming guest room. While it was missing a door, the judges were rapt by the panelling work Daz did around the entire zone.
All three judges thought Darren and Deanne’s room had an urban cabin feel to it and said it was “really cheery and gorgeous.” They agreed it was very on trend and had a defined style. Shaynna also complemented the styling and textures used throughout.

Walking onto The Block, was a dream come true for blockaholics Jenna and Chris. And for their first ever renovation, the pair managed to create a room of grand proportions and featuring original details. All three judges thought the vaulted ceiling made the room feel much bigger and more open and thought it was a brilliant idea.
Chris and Jenna’s taste in art work and light fittings also got a big tick as did, Chris’s cabinetry work. However, the judges did question the execution of the bed head and final finishes.

Max and Karstan are the only couple to present an unfinished room on The Block. On entry, the judges were very disappointed when they noticed the space was missing a “spectacular” cabinet and blinds. Despite this, they thought the room’s large window was a real point of difference and a magnificent piece of architectural structure. Not only does it help to brighten up the room, but also allows natural outside colours in.
The contemporary artwork Max and Karstan chose to hang was perfect and the judges agreed that their decision to make the window the hero of the room by keeping the other elements simple was just right. All in all, the judges highly praised the duo’s styling. In particular, Darren really liked the door they installed with a square set edge and said it was “just right.”
