The stars of the HBO miniseries Big Little Lies won big at the 69th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards – Laura Dern won best supporting actress in a limited series, Alexander Skarsgård won best supporting actor in a limited series and Jean-Marc Vallee won best direction in a limited series. Plus, we can’t forget our very own Nicole Kidman (!!) winning best actress in a limited series and the entire show winning best limited series. (You can see the full winners list here.)
So with the huge success of the first show, will they sign on to do a second season? The world wants one – and it appears the cast do too.
Nicole, Laura, Reese Witherspoon and the creator and author Liane Moriarty all spoke about the show at the Awards ceremony.
Nicole, who co-produced the series, addressed the rumours, telling E!’s Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet, “We want to do it! We love these women and it’s trying to move pieces and it’s complicated.
“We love that people want us to do it,” she continued.
Reese kept a tight lip, saying, “We have the best time. We’re all really good friends and it’s really fun.”
Laura added, “It’s a blessing that these ladies got together and wanted to make this.”
Liane even jumped in, teasing, “I’m thinking about it. It’s a beautiful possibility, that’s all I’ll say.”
Director Jean-Marc Vallée chimed in, saying: “I’m just like the audience and like these girls and like everyone else, yes it would be great to reunite the team to do it. Are we going to be able to do it? Let’s see what the future will be.”
Nicole previously told Variety she’d be keen to come back, if the storyline could be “powerful and compelling”.
As previously reported by TV WEEK, the actress went on to say that she couldn’t believe how the series touched viewers, especially the reaction to her character’s relationship with her husband Perry, played by Alexander Skarsgård.

“People would want to reach out and touch me,” Nicole said. “I got so many emails and people talking to me about it, which I like because it’s a really complicated relationship.
“I obviously understand it, so I’m able to talk about it in complex detail. It’s so based in shame, and the desire to protect her husband and family.”
Come on, guys! You want to make it happen, we want to make it happen – so let’s make it happen!
