Yep, it seems the magician didn’t have enough magic to make him win over Sophie Monk.

While Jarrod Woodgate has been open with his feelings with the Bardot singer and even dropped the ‘L’ word, Apollo seemed to struggle tonight on his final date.

Things were going well – amazing scenery, an incredible live opera performance – but Apollo and Soph didn’t emotionally connect quite the way she’d intended.

In fact, things got suuuuper awkward. Here, we chat to the 24-year-old about how it really went down and if he would be our next Bachelor.

Talk me through that final date, it seemed a bit awkward at the end.

Amazing date, absolutely breathtaking. When we sat down, it hit me – the final three thing – and I just got so nervous. I was actually shaking, I couldn’t string a sentence together, I was blubbering over my words and answering things the way I wouldn’t normally answer. It just all got to me.

That nervousness and awkwardness was 100 per cent real. It was what I was feeling at the time. You can’t go back and regret moments like that. That’s human emotion. [But] I kinda wish I hadn’t gotten all nervous and weird.

Did you think you’d still get a rose?

I was pretty happy with how things were going with Sophie. I was hoping for the best but expecting the worst at the stage. I was really gutted. I was trying to hold the emotions in but as soon as we got outside, the tears started coming out. I was pretty heartbroken.

You have new music coming out! Tell us about your new single, ‘Addiction’.

I’ve been doing music and writing songs longer than I’ve been doing magic. This song, ‘Addiction’, I actually wrote the day that I came out of my heart attack. I’d been through a tough stage of depression and obviously my heart attack; it’s just about being addicted to life and it’s about finding addiction in the positive things in the world.

I wrote that when I was 23 and I never released it. At the start of this year, my friend said ‘It’s an amazing story, it’s an amazing message, you’ve gotta get this song out there.’ So I started working on it and set that goal and obviously America happened and The Bachelorette happened and so now I’ve come out the other side. It’s exciting to get back to performing and get back to music.

When can we expect to hear it?

It will be dropping in about four weeks. It’s just a feel-good song, it’s a bit of an EDM mix with an 80s vibe to it.

This awkward silence was pretty cringe-worthy

We’re down to the final two bachelors – who do you think is going to win?

It’s neck and neck, I’m not going to lie. There’s amazing qualities to both of them. Jarrod is strong, he’s a nurturer, he’s passionate and he really does look after people and he’s actually got a really good sense of humour too.

Then you’ve got Stu [Laundy] who’s this larrikin and looks like an older Zac Efron. He’s got this beautiful, bubbly side as well, and always wants to know how people are feeling. He’s very well-established. Both of them have awesome careers so for me it’s impossible to tell. I’m just as excited as you are.

You’re a fan fave, would you be up for doing The Bachelor?

I think I’d definitely be open to it. I still am looking for that person to fall in love with and share an amazing life with and I’d 100 per cent being open to it. Especially after people being able to see who I am and what I’m about on the show, it will really help to attract the right girls to apply if that was the happen.

I’ve always had this thing where you do not tell a girl you love her unless you’re 100 per cent in love. I said I was developing feelings and I was falling in love and that was 100 per cent honest. But ever since I was a kid, you never tell a woman something you don’t mean when it comes to feelings. I was 100 per cent falling in love, I could see a future but I just hadn’t hit that stage of being head over heels. You need to be honest with a partner when it comes to that too. They need to know what you’re feeling and where you’re at.
