So the last thing we ever expected to hear was that the new couple are keeping things casual.

“We haven’t talked about plans for the future. Initially, we’re just going to enjoy being able to have an open relationship,” Matty, 30, spills to NW.

“Not open!” Laura, 31, chimes in, laughing. “It is a closed relationship now!”

Here, Matty and Laura discuss their, err, rosy future together…

Matty, when did you know that Laura was The One?

Matty: It was only that morning of the finale that I truly allowed myself to let my guard down and acknowledge that Laura was The One. But from the very first moment I met Laura, I never had any doubts.

What was the first thing you two did when the cameras shut off?

Matty: I ordered spaghetti bolognese, six servings of ice-cream, two bottles of red wine and a bottle of champagne, and I was in my room waiting for Laura.

Laura: So much room service, it wasn’t even funny! In Thailand, it’s so hot, so you want to come home and at least have a shower first and get out of that dress. When I got to his villa, there’s just this plethora of food [laughs].

So that’s quite the ring, Laura – did you think that Matty was going to propose when you saw it?

Laura: [Laughs] For a brief second but then I was like, ‘Surely not – that’s not gonna happen. This isn’t Blake Garvey!’
