Home and Away: Tessa De Josselin struggled to say goodbye to Billie

'I was bummed out.'

There weren’t enough tissues in the world to stem the flow of tears after Home And Away said goodbye to Billie recently.

The emotional episode saw the teenager succumb to her cancer on the beach.

It wasn’t just the final moments for Billie, but also her portrayer, Tessa de Josselin.

“It’s sad to see someone you’ve built, lived and breathed for so long not be around,” Tessa, 27, tells TV WEEK.

“It was sad to see her go. She’ll be missed.” Tessa also admit it took time for her to accept Billie’s death.

“When they [producers] told me she was going to die, I was bummed out,” she admits. “I wanted her to go on to do great things.

“But I wasn’t disappointed in her ending. It was an interesting turn and she was able to find her peace. You have to remind yourself it’s just a story.”

Fans, however, weren’t so philosophical, taking to social media to mourn the loss.

“It’s lovely to know people cared about her as much as I did,” Tessa says.

The actress, who’s living in Los Angeles, says she’s looking forward to her next role.

“It’s an adjustment after playing one character for so long, but it’s going well [in LA],” she says. “I like auditioning and reading new material.” Watch this space!
