Home and Away star Sophie Dillman may be nominated for a coveted Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress, but she’s counting down the days until the TV WEEK Logie Awards for another reason.
After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, which devastated the film and TV industry, Sophie says this year’s is set to be the most important ceremony in its 62-year history.
“Our industry has had such a rough trot for the entirety of the pandemic and so many people have relied on the industry during the pandemic to take their minds off how difficult life has been,” she tells TV WEEK.
“It’s really important that the Australian [film and TV] industry is celebrated for every ounce of incredibleness that it is.
“I think it’s going to be really fun to finally see people that we haven’t seen in so long and be able to celebrate all the hard work we’ve done for so long under such incredibly difficult circumstances.”
This is the second time Sophie has been nominated for a Logie having been up for the Graham Kennedy Award For Most Popular New Talent back in 2018.
Despite being a Logies regular now, the 28-year-old says being nominated for Most Popular Actress is a whole different ballgame.

“I feel like I’m playing with the big boys now!” she laughs. “This nomination is huge.”
“But I wouldn’t say [I feel] pressure. I just honestly feel privileged to even be recognised among such incredible talent.”
Sophie says to be up for the Silver Logie alongside her Home and Away co-star Ada Nicodemou is a full-circle moment.
“She’s one of the most popular and longest-running Australian television stars ever. Just to be standing in the same room as her is a privilege, let alone both being nominated for the same award,” she gushes.
“I’m just honoured, I just feel so lucky. Ada has been such a great friend and is such a great actress and person and human being.”
Sophie, who’s played Ziggy Astoni on Home and Away since 2017, says she can’t wait to start the process of finding a gown for the Logies, which will be held on June 19 at The Star Gold Coast Entertainment Precinct.
“We’re in talks, we’re just sort of starting to get going now. It’s about the time that you start getting in contact with stylists and designers and start putting mood boards together,” she explains.
“It’s such a wild experience because never in my life did I ever imagine that I would be getting ready for something like the Logies and wearing such incredible gowns and feeling like a princess.”
Another gig Sophie never dreamed she’d land is becoming the ambassador of Mazda Australia – a title she says was a “pinch myself” moment.
“I nearly fell off my chair when they asked me to be an ambassador; I was so excited. I had never driven a new car ever in my life, I had never been so lucky to afford one. So being offered the ambassadorship that honestly was in my wildest dreams,” she says.
