The Christmas countdown is on in the Kruger household. And with an excited three-year-old daughter looking forward to Santa’s arrival, TV host Sonia couldn’t be more thrilled.
“It’s so fun with Maggie, because the whole concept of Christmas is just so magical to her,” Sonia, 53, tells TV WEEK.
“She’s completely absorbed by Santa and Christmas stories. For one of her first Christmases, I put flour down and made reindeer paw prints. She was wowed by it – and it just gives you so much pleasure seeing them happy.”
It’s that spirit of Christmas that made Sonia want to get involved with Vision Australia’s Carols By Candlelight.
“You want all children to feel that way,” she explains.
“All profits go towards services for kids and children who will probably never see a Christmas light. It’s all about making Christmas special for them.”
Sonia and her Today Extra co-star David Campbell will return to co-host the Christmas Eve tradition as it celebrates its 81st year.
Performers include Casey Donovan, Anthony Callea, Tim Campbell, Marina Prior and Denis Walter.
“It’s such a beautiful show,” the TV presenter enthuses.
“You have some of Australia’s biggest names up there done up to the nines, and everybody brings their A-game.”
“I can’t wait to see Casey – she has such a wonderful voice.”
The iconic event has taken place in Melbourne since 1938, with roughly 10,00 people attending every year.
Carols by Candlelight will air Monday the 24th of December at 8pm on Nine Network and 9Now.
