True Crime podcast Serial took the world by storm.
The series had listeners hooked from the outset and begging for more. Now, thankfully, our obsession can continue as HBO and Sky Atlantic announce new doco-series, The Case Against Adnan Syed.
Inspired by the success of the podcast, the show will investigate the 1999 murder of high school student, Hae Min Lee.
For those who have failed to tune into the ground-breaking podcast – please do so immediately – Adnan Syed was Hae’s ex-boyfriend. Just six weeks after her disappearance, 17-year-old Adnan was arrested for her murder and convicted to life in prison.
His case is an enthralling, tangled web of shady characters and he-said-she-said stories that will have you on edge throughout and no doubt leave you with more questions than answers. Which is where we guess HBO and Sky come in.
According to Variety, the documentary will reinvestigate the case and events leading up to Hae’s murder. And will present new information, discoveries and according to Sky Atlantic “ground-breaking revelations that challenge the state’s case.”
“We’ll be offering viewers a compelling window into one of the most talked about murder cases in recent years,” says Sky’s director of programming Zai Bennett.
Having been in production since 2015, the doco will be approximately four hours long. But a release date is yet to be confirmed.
At present, Adnan is still in prison awaiting a new trial (partly thanks to Serial). And we are awaiting those answers, which we’re hoping this show will provide.
