If there’s one good thing isolation has brought us (other than less air pollution, quality family time and an opportunity to hone our cooking skills) it’s streaming platforms and television networks expanding our viewing options.
While many shows have sadly had to be put on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions, in their place beloved classics are being re-released, and much-anticipated new shows and seasons brought forward in schedule.
Now, two of Aussie television’s biggest platforms, SBS and Foxtel, have joined forces to bring more streaming options to live on one space.
Foxtel today announced that the SBS On Demand app would be available to Foxtel customers with the iQ3 and iQ4 set-top boxes, as of Tuesday.
SBS has screened some of the biggest television shows of the decade. The most notable include: The Handmaid’s Tale, The Young Pope, New Girl, The X-Files, On Becoming A God In Central Florida, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Years and Years, Harlots, You’re The Worst and the Asher Keddie led award-winning Australian drama, The Hunting.
Extensive multilingual offerings with subtitles and locally-made programs will also be available .
“SBS On Demand is home to some of the world’s best and most distinctive programming, providing a truly unique collection of content for Australians,” SBS On Demand general manager Chris Tangye said.
Foxtel has similar agreements in place with other streaming and on-demand services including Netflix and ABC’s iView.
Happy viewing for the next eternity!
