The Royal Wedding is fast approaching, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle set to tie the knot in St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle this Saturday the 19th of May.
As we wait for the extensive coverage on the big day, we’ve gathered up six shows for fans to watch in the lead-up.
1. Harry and Meghan: A Royal Romance
Telemovie, Thursday May 17th, 9:30pm, Channel Seven
This telemovie chronicles Harry (Murray Fraser) and Meghan’s (Parisa Fitz-Henley) courtship from their first date, set up by mutual friends, to the couple’s secret rendezvous and, of course, their engagement. It’s the perfectly cheesy and romantic watch in the lead-up to the main event.

2. The Crown
Drama series, 20 episodes, Netflix
Fuelling our monarchy obsession in a way no other series has, The Crown chronicles Queen Elizabeth II’s life and reign. Starting with her ascension to the throne when she was just 25, the show depicts many of history’s major events – as well as romances, scandals and political rivalries.
While there are elements of dramatic licence, a research team ensures each episode is based on historical fact.
The first two seasons cover almost two decades, starting with Queen Elizabeth (Claire Foy) and Prince Philip’s (Matt Smith) wedding in 1947. And while the introduction of grandchild Harry is still far off, the historical drama paints a picture of the life his family has endured.

3. The Windsors
Comedy series, 14 episodes
Eccentric, outlandish and hilarious, this British comedy series parodies the life of the Royal Family. You’ll cringe and giggle as the soap opera covers real events with a very fictional and lewd spin.

4. The Queen
Drama, 103 mins
After the tragic death of Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth (Helen Mirren) and Prime Minister Tony Blair (Michael Sheen) clash over how to handle the disaster publicly. The Royal Family is caught between the turmoil of despair, a desire to mourn privately and the world’s cry for a public show of grief.
Dame Helen Mirren won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II.
5. The Tudors
Drama series, 38 episodes, Stan.
Delve deeper into the history of the monarchy with drama series The Tudors, based on the reign of King Henry VIII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers). Notorious for his relationships with the likes of Anne Boleyn and Catherine Of Aragon culminating in six scandalous marriages, the King Of England played a critical role in shaping the nation today.
Henry had six wives, including Jane Seymour (Annabelle Wallis,right).
6. Suits
Drama series, 109 episodes, S1 – S6 on Netflix
It’s the show that shot Meghan to fame, and for good reason. Now in its eighth season, the legal drama will have you hooked from the outset when a drug deal gone bad leads to university dropout Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams) securing a job with notorious lawyer Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht).
Mike’s photographic memory helps to prove himself in the cut-throat law firm, while his sympathetic nature wears down a cold-hearted Harvey.
The young gun also finds himself taken with the brilliant and beautiful paralegal Rachel Zane, as played by Meghan. Rachel, who’s grown up in the shadow of her father, crack lawyer Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce), is out to prove she has what it takes to make it in the business.
Meghan scored her big break as an actress playing Rachel in Suits.
