The Block’s Ronnie and Georgia have signed on with the Nine Network, proving that while they might have missed out on the show’s top spot they’re still winners.

On Tuesday, the network announced that the controversial couple had signed an “exclusive deal” to provide renovation advice, tips and inspiration across TV and digital platforms.

“We’re very, very excited,” Georgia told 9Honey Homes. “It’s a pretty good network to have in your back corner!”

“We’re still coming down off the whole Block thing, and now we’re shooting off to the upfronts [press announcements] – it’s a whirlwind,” she said.

“I should probably get a babysitter onboard!”

Georgia revealed that her and her husband’s ultimate goal would be to host their own television show.

“That’s what we’d love to work towards – but we understand we have to work really, really hard to get there.”

“Our passion at the end of the day is renovating houses, and we’re just really fortunate to have a platform to be able to share that with people who are interested.”

She added: “This is dream stuff for us, so we’re really excited.”

The couple, who hail from Western Australia, shocked viewers and their fellow contestants when they chose to pass in their multi-million dollar property at auction.

Speaking of the decision, host Scott Cam told TV WEEK that the pair had a clear strategy that they had discussed.

“I said if it hovers around the $2.6 million mark, which is under reserve, you’d have to pass it in immediately,” Scott, 54, says.

Scott was concerned the couple would have a similar result to what happened to Michael and Carlene on the Glasshouse season of The Block. The Queensland couple only made $10,000 profit over reserve when their apartment was sold, and were left devastated at the result.

Having watched that season, Ronnie knew they didn’t want the same outcome and had given their agent a clear directive regarding passing the property in.

The quick decision ended up paying off for the couple, who sold the property outside of auction for a profit of $161,000.

“We’ve created drama the whole season, why not continue that on auction day,” Georgia said of the unexpected course of action.

She added: “We’re really pleased.”
