Two giants of Australian television, Doctor Doctorโ€™s Rodger Corser and A Place To Call Homeโ€™s Jenni Baird, today voiced their support for the decision to move the Logies from its traditional home in Melbourne to the glitzy Gold Coast.

Will Rodger have reason to smile at next yearโ€™s TV WEEK Logie Awards?

โ€œThe Logies is always a fun event,โ€ Rodger, 44, tells TV WEEK. โ€œAnd now the tradition continues for its 60th year.โ€

In 2018, the Logies celebrates 60 years of awards, glamorous gowns and entertainment.

โ€œI love the Logies!โ€ Jenni, 41, says. โ€œYou get together in a room and you have your friends with you.

โ€œIt will be different having it in Queensland โ€“ it will be warmer!โ€

Jenni Baird was all smiles at this yearโ€™s TV WEEK Logies, posing for a pic with APTCH co-star Brett Climo and some fans.

The weather is obviously one of the appeals of having the awards in Queensland. So too, says Roger, is the proximity of the event to the beach.

โ€œItโ€™s probably far for more attractive to jump into the Gold Coast surf than the Yarra River,โ€ he quips.

Hearts have been aflutter in Whyhope โ€“ and on TV screens across Australia โ€“ thanks to Rodgerโ€™s portrayal of bad-boy doc Hugh.

Earlier today it was announced the Logies will be held at the Gold Coastโ€™s The Star in July next year as a part of a four-year deal with the Queensland Government and Tourism and Events Queensland.

โ€œMelbourne did a fantastic job of hosting the Logies over the years,โ€ Roger says. โ€œAnd now Queensland is obviously really keen to have it [the Logies]. So, there is a new enthusiasm for the Logies, which is good.โ€

This year, Rodger was nominated for the coveted Gold Logie for his performance as bad boy doctor Hugh Knight in Doctor Doctor. Season two of the drama is currently airing on the Nine Network.

Jenni, meanwhile, is a two-time Logie nominee for her role as scheming Regina in Foxtelโ€™s A Place To Call Home. The show itself this year won the Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Drama.

โ€œRegina is one of those gift roles of a lifetime,โ€ she says.
