When Fox aired the highly anticipated season five premiere of Prison Break fans were shocked to discover Michael Scofield was very much alive!

But just how long will he be sticking around for? Leading man Wentworth Miller has revealed a sixth season of Prison Break could be on the cards.

โ€œI wouldnโ€™t rule it out,โ€ Wentworth told Entertainment Weekly. โ€œI feel like thereโ€™s more story there and now weโ€™re talking about multiple generations. There are a lot of different directions that we could go.โ€

Weโ€™ve seen a different side to Michael in season five, with our favourite inmate now going by the name Kaniel Outis โ€“ a renowned terrorist with ties to ISIL.

After years of spiralling down a very dark road, Michael has landed himself in a Yemini prison.

โ€œIt makes Fox River look like the Four Seasons,โ€ Wentworth said.

Surely weโ€™ll need a sixth season to get to the bottom of all this chaos? Though perhaps not, according to show creator Paul T Scheuring, who recently told Collider that season five was โ€œdesigned as a close-ended pieceโ€.

However he did add, โ€œthereโ€™s a hunger from the actors for [more episodes],โ€ so not all hope is lost!

Regardless of whether we do get more Prison Break, Wentworth has assured us weโ€™ll be happy with the ending of season five.

โ€œWhere we do find these characters at the end of these nine episodes, is somewhere that feels right and earned and satisfying.โ€

As for the fate of Michael Scofield, itโ€™s too early to tell โ€“ after all, the man has already come back from the dead once so whatโ€™s another resurrection?

โ€œWe will kill someone off,โ€ Wentworth admitted. โ€œThatโ€™s good TV. That does make for gripping storytelling. No-one is safe.โ€

Yikes!
