The younger sister of The Duchess of Cambridge is in talks with NBC News who are set to offer her a gig on Today as a lifestyle correspondent.

The 31-year-old, who shot to fame after her sister’s royal wedding, was considered for the role after her successful interview with Matt Lauer received high ratings and has already been on a test shoot to Utah.

“Today has been doing a test piece with Pippa in Utah, and if it works out well — and it looks like it will — they will hire her as a correspondent,” a source told Page Six.

Pippa is such a hit in the US that a number of major networks, including ABC, have been pursuing the British beauty for some time.

Despite NBC representatives denying Pippa was joining NBC back in June, saying it is not 100 per cent true, she has since been spotted meeting with NBC executives. More recently though NBC reps have declined to comment further.

“The deal with NBC isn’t done yet, but everybody is hopeful it will be done very soon. They want to make sure Pippa is comfortable in this role. The ratings for Pippa’s interview with Matt Lauer showed she is very popular with Today viewers, and she really impressed everyone at NBC,” another source told the paper.

Pippa’s new role would see her cover lifestyle and health stories, similar to those she covers in her column for Britain’s Weekend Waitrose magazine.

In her column Pippa writes about health and diet tops, working closely with a nutritionist and personal trainer.

“I grew up with the belief that good health is about moderation in all things, so I’ll be celebrating healthy living through exercise, a balanced diet and a little of the naughty stuff sprinkled in — I’m talking chocolate, crisps, and the occasional glass of wine,” she says in her column.

“I’ve never done Dukan, attempted Atkins or exercised religiously seven days a week, but I do believe in making healthy choices – keeping refined carbs such as white bread and pasta to a minimum, and sticking to sensible portion sizes.”
