After six seasons inside Litchfield Penitentiary, Netflix’s upcoming seventh season of Orange Is The New Black will be its last.

In a video released on Thursday via social media, the series’ cast broke the news to fans that the show would be entering its final season in 2019.

The emotional clip included the actresses‘ reminiscing on their time on the show and thanking fans for their ongoing support.

Although we are incredibly disappointed by the news, Uzo Aduba who plays Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, promised that we won’t be disappointed with what they have in store for us in season seven.

“It is a season you will not forget. We’re going to give you everything and more that you could have ever wanted” she revealed the in the announcement.

Our hearts are broken that we will no longer be seeing this award winning series on our screen.

After getting on Dominican and Maria’s wrong side by starting a White Power group within the facility, Piper finds herself branded with the Swastika symbol on her arm. Unfortunately for Piper she had to learn a lot of lessons the hard way.

In probably one of the most emotional scenes of the series, Taystee’s breakdown after being found guilty of Piscatella’s murder which she did not commit, is truly tear-jerking to watch.

Upon Pipers entry to the prison, she accidentally lets it slip in front of Chef Red that the food they serve is disgusting. As punishment, Piper finds herself with an extra special addition to her breakfast sandwich the next morning.

POUSSEY’S DEATH

What started out as a peaceful protest later resulted in the death of one of the series most beloved characters. After being pushed to the ground and held down by a prison guard, Poussey suffered a terrifying death through suffocation. Just when fans were hurting enough, we later found out she was only in Litchfield for a minor drug charge. RIP Poussey!

DAYA AND THE GUN

DAYA AND THE GUN

When a prison riot breaks out after Poussey’s death, CO Humphrey’s gun finds itself in the hands of Daya after sliding out of his reach. We’re left in an intense cliff-hanger standoff, which leaves Daya pointing the guns at the guards and her fellow inmates cheering her on.

THE CHICKEN

After spotting a free-range chicken in the yard, Piper finds out that there is more to this bird then it seems. Russian Head Chef Galina “Red” Reznikov has been on the hunt to catch the mystery chicken that always seems to get away from her, revealing it even mocks her in her dreams.

SOPHIA IS ATTACKED

SOPHIA IS ATTACKED

Although we don’t see this take place, the intense build up to Sophia being attacked by three trans-phobic inmates while in the salon was incredibly shocking. Her injuries in the aftermath her mental down fall was equally as devastating as the attack itself.

ROSA GETS REVENGE OF VEE

Vee wasn’t anyone’s favourite person at Litchfield for all she had done during her time. After making her escape from the prison in a van, Rosa spots Vee who has also made her escape, and proceeds to ram her down with the van, killing her instantly.

MARITZA EATS A BABY MOUSE

MARITZA EATS A BABY MOUSE

After passing time with a game of ‘Would You Rather’, Flaca puts the question to Maritza on if a gun was put to her head, would she rather eat ten flies or a live baby mouse. Maritza picked the latter much to everyone’s surprise, which later came back to haunt her. After newbie guard Humps overhears their conversation, he comes up with a sick plan and brings the scenario to life.

It took a number of seasons before we learnt why Suzanne was in prison, with the outcome truly tragic. After inviting a little boy back to her apartment with good intentions, the youngster fell to his death through her window while trying to get away from her.
