We don’t mean to send you into an existential crisis, but it’s been TEN years since beloved television series Offspring premiered.
That’s right, an entire decade has passed since we fell in love with the quirky and over-the-top Proudman family.
Where has the time gone?!
Premiering in August 2010, Offspring became an instant hit thanks to its perfect balance of relatable drama and romance with a hint of comedy.
Bundle of anxious energy, 30-something obstetrician, Nina (Asher Keddie), was a loveable mess. And, she was considered the most normal of her fabulously dysfunctional family – Billie (Kat Stewart), Jimmy (Richard Davies), Darcy (John Waters) and Geraldine (Linda Cropper).
Then there were Nina’s colleagues, just as chaotic and loveable as her family.
In its seven years on air, we laughed, gasped and boy, did we cry.
We’re still not, and likely never will be, over the death of Patrick Reid, played by Matthew Le Nevez.
In those years, Offspring also accumulated countless nominations and awards both at the TV WEEK Logies and the AACTAs.
We’re not the only ones getting deeply nostalgic about the milestone. To mark ten years since it first graced our screens, cast and crew have shared never-before-seen photos and videos from their time on set.
“Flash back time. 10 years ago Offspring hit the airwaves. I’m forever grateful to producers Imogen Banks and John Edwards along with Kate Dennis for giving me a shot when I hadn’t ever done a drama series before,” Director John Brawley wrote in an Instagram post.
“This lot became family over the years. Now that Offspring is on Netflix, it’s been re-discovered by an audience beyond Australia’s shores and lives on. Happy anniversary to all of you special humans that made this show so unique.”
Asher shared in the sentiment with her own BTS snap, writing: “So grateful for those momentous years.”
