Kanye West premiered his brand new video clip starring none other than his daughter with Kim Kardashian – North West.
Kanye, 37, premiered a sneak preview of the video for his new song ‘The Only One’ on the Ellen DeGeneres show, and he took the opportunity to gush about his wife Kim and daughter North whom he credits with making him a “better human being”.
Clearly Kanye didn’t hold a grudge against little North for flushing his phone down the toilet! He also elaborated on how he and Kim want more children.
“Yeah, we’re trying,” Kanye admitted.
Ellen cheekily responded: “So you’re gonna have more? How many do you want like a bunch, like a Brad and Angie bunch?”
“I just want whatever Kim wants,” Kanye responded, saying that marriage has taught him to keep quiet! ”I’ve learned how to shut up more. I think I’m a better human being because of [Kim] and because of my daughter.”
He also elaborated on how he thinks becoming a family fan has changed him for the better.
“There’s things I’ve done in the past that were considered negative, but I was really jumping in front of the tank for other people and for culture in a way. So now I always have to have that in my mind that I have a family that I have to protect, too.”
Kanye continued “think I was going through my version of my terrible twos. My daughter, she wants to express herself and she just doesn’t have the words for it. And for me there was so many things I wanted to do with film and clothing and I just didn’t have the words or the resources or the backing or the perception that I could do it being that I was a rapper.”
Reflecting his new calmer self, Kanye’s new song, which features none other than Paul McCartney on the keyboards, is much more melodic than his usual work, is apparently inspired by Kanye’s beloved late mother Donda. Told from her perspective, she talks through him, telling him to “tell Nori about me”.
The video for the clip, which features Kanye and North wandering through a field, was directed by the acclaimed American director Spike Jonze. Watch the clip featuring the adorable North West, above.
