From the revival of old-favourites like Dancing With The Stars and Changing Rooms, to the introduction of new series such as Mr Black and Bad Mothers, there is a lot to look forward to on free-to-air TV in 2019.

CHANNEL SEVEN
In 2019, Seven is introducing us to a new “high concept contemporary drama series” called Between Two Worlds, from creator and writer Bevan Lee (Packed To The Rafters, A Place To Call Home).
Another drama series in the works is Secret Bridesmaids’ Business, a show about three friends whose lives are inextricably changed when one of them unwittingly invites a malevolent stranger in to their world. A re-booted Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries will be airing on the network, after the original stopped airing on ABC in 2015.
Seven is also introducing a new reality series called The Proposal, where daters will compete in four pageant style rounds to win the heart of a mystery suitor or suitress (whose identity is concealed).
The Seven Year Switch is returning as The Super Switch, along with other reality shows Wife Swap, Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip, Extreme Weddings, Inside ‘The G’ and Islands of America. The 10th anniversary season of My Kitchen Rules also promises to dish up the show’s best episodes yet.
Crime fiends will be satisfied with the new series Australian Gangster, a two-part drama about Sydney’s world of crime. Plus, Seven is releasing a true-crime documentary series Undercurrent.

NINE NETWORK
The Nine Network has released its entertainment line-up for 2019, and there are some exciting new additions rounding out the list, as well as a few old favourites making a return.
A revival of the beloved Australian drama SeaChange is in the works, along with the introduction of exciting new drama series Bad Mothers. Also new to the network is Lego Masters with host Hamish Blake, a new cutting-edge documentary crime series Murder, Lies and Alibis, and US medical drama, New Amsterdam.
Sir David Attenborough will present a five-part landmark series called Dynasties, and BBC-produced documentary ABBA: Let The Music Speak will also air.
Hamish Blake and Andy Lee will return with another action-packed adventure, with Hamish and Andy’s “Perfect” Holiday, and Doctor Doctor has been renewed for a fourth season!
Doctor Doctor is returning to the Nine Network.
Returning to the network are a variety of shows, including Married at First Sight, The Block, The Voice, Australian Ninja Warrior, Family Food Fight, Love Island Australia, Doctor Doctor, Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation, Travel Guides, This Time Next Year, 20 to One, Paramedics, RBT, Australian Crime Stories, World of Dance, Millionaire Hot Seat, Talking Married and Getaway.
There’s also a selection of must-see television events including Hay Mate (a drought relief concert for the farmers), the Aria Awards, Carols by Candlelight, and our personal favourite, The 61st TV WEEK Logie Awards live from The Star on the Gold Coast.
NETWORK 10
New home-grown shows added to the line-up on Network 10 include Chris & Julia’s Sunday Night Takeaway, Dancing with the Stars, and Changing Rooms.
Also new is Five Bedrooms (the story of five very different people who meet on the singles’ table at a wedding and decide to buy a house together), Mr Black (a comedy series starring Stephen Curry and Nadine Garner), My Life Is Murder (with the Lucy Lawless as Alexa Crowe, a brilliant, insightful, and completely-without-filter investigator) and The Secrets She Keeps (a dark tale of two women from very different walks of life who have one thing in common – explosive secrets that could destroy their lives).
US series Murphy Brown, with Candice Bergen, and The Conners, without Roseanne Barr, will also be airing on the network. Also coming to 10 is The Gilded Age, the hotly-anticipated new show from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes.
Pilot Week hits Taboo, Kinne Tonight, Trial By Kyle and Bring Back Saturday Night have also been added to the roster.
Returning favourites will include Playing For Keeps, Australian Survivor,The Bachelor Australia, The Bachelorette Australia, Bachelor In Paradise Australia, Pointless, Show Me The Movie!, The Living Room, The Project, The Graham Norton Show, MasterChef Australia, Gogglebox, Have You Been Paying Attention? and Bondi Rescue.
Playing For Keeps is returning for a second season on Network 10.
SBS
SBS has defined its 2019 program line-up as inclusive, genre-bending and impactful… and, of course, entertaining!
There are three new Australian commissioned dramas to come; The Family Law Season 3, Hungry Ghosts and The Hunt. There are new Australian commissioned documentaries including Australia In Colour, Christians Like Us and the returning Who Do You Think You Are? with stars such as Casey Donovan and Roger Corser already on board.
The Family Law returns to SBS.
Eurovision – Australia Decides, Eurovision 2019, and the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras will all air on SBS. In May, SBS will be airing a new Australian version of the BBC game show Mastermind, five nights a week in the competitive 6:00pm time slot.
Plus, all the best new and returning international drama series exclusive to SBS including Das Boot, The Name of the Rose, Zero Zero Zero, The New Pope, Butterfly, The Good Fight and The Handmaid’s Tale.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Dopesick Nation, The Orville, Homeland, The Girlfriend Experience and more will also be airing on SBS Viceland. Returning to SBS Viceland will be The Feed, Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, Travel Man and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
ABC
ABC is set to offer ‘unrivalled commitment’ to diverse Australian stories in 2019, with the network celebrating Aussies with new dramas, documentaries and comedies.
A new drama series, called Black B-itch, starring Deborah Mailman and Rachel Griffiths is in the works. The incredibly popular drama series Mystery Road will return, along with other favourites Utopia, Frayed, Squinters, Rosehaven, Get Krack!n and The Letdown.
Plus, viewers can look forward to the return of firm fan favourites Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell, Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery and Anh’s Brush with Fame.
