Network Ten has unveiled its content plans for 2019, and viewers are in for a treat as the network heads in a new direction!
The network’s self-described ‘makeover’ will see the re-branding of several channels, the introduction of thirteen new home-grown shows, and so much more.
The new-look network also involves a change in name from Network Ten to Network 10. They’ve also created a new logo…
ELEVEN is being re-branded as 10 Peach, 10’s “cheeky little sibling with effervescence in spades”, and ONE is being re-branded as 10 Boss, because it’s the “channel with attitude.”
Shows on 10 Peach will include Neighbours, This is Us, Stage Mums, Sex And The City, Charmed and The Loop. Meanwhile, 10 Boss will air shows such as Madam Secretary, Law & Order: SVU, NCIS, the A-League and Formula One.
The network’s online streaming service tenplay is now 10 Play, and they will also be introducing a new streaming service called 10 All Access and a podcast called 10 Speaks.
10 All Access will launch in December and will offer more than 7,000 commercial-free episodes at launch. In partnership with CBS, the service will air shows including The Good Fight, One Dollar and Strange Angel. It will also include current shows, past seasons and classic TV hits such as Frasier, Cheers and Survivor.
Meanwhile, the network also revealed their line-up of shows for the upcoming year and things are looking highly entertaining.
New home-grown shows added to the line-up include the previously announced Chris & Julia’s Sunday Night Takeaway, Dancing with the Stars, and Changing Rooms.
Also new is Five Bedrooms (the story of five very different people who meet on the singles’ table at a wedding and decide to buy a house together), Mr Black (a comedy series starring Stephen Curry and Nadine Garner), My Life Is Murder (with the Lucy Lawless as Alexa Crowe, a brilliant, insightful, and completely-without-filter investigator) and The Secrets She Keeps (a dark tale of two women from very different walks of life who have one thing in common – explosive secrets that could destroy their lives).
US series Murphy Brown, with Candice Bergen, and The Conners, without Roseanne Barr, will also be airing on the network. Also coming to 10 is The Gilded Age, the hotly-anticipated new show from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes.
Pilot Week hits Taboo, Kinne Tonight, Trial By Kyle and Bring Back Saturday Night have also been added to the roster.
Returning favourites will include Australian Survivor,The Bachelor Australia, The Bachelorette Australia, Bachelor In Paradise Australia, Pointless, Show Me The Movie!, The Living Room, The Project, The Graham Norton Show, MasterChef Australia, Gogglebox, Have You Been Paying Attention? and Bondi Rescue.
Interestingly Playing For Keeps was not listed as returning in 2019, though that doesn’t rule out the possibility of a second season at some point.
Network 10 chief executive Paul Anderson says: “We have changed things up and not only do we have sparkling new looks and brands for 10, 10 Boss, and 10 Peach in 2019, with the imminent launch of 10 All Access and other big initiatives the time is right to connect the whole family of Network 10 platforms and channels.
“We are the adventurous alternative, the network that has always taken risks and tried new things – always with a sense of fun and with content that really engages with our under-50s audience.”
Network 10 Chief Content Officer, Beverley McGarvey, adds: “We are ready to deliver a slate of new and returning hit shows that build on the success we’ve had this year and get to consumers wherever they are, whenever they want to watch.”
