Neighbours recap: Sonya’s fall from grace

The downward spiral of Sonya’s life continued this week when she publicly fell off the wagon.
Sonya and Toadie

Off the wagon

Sonya’s wellbeing has been on the decline since the arrival of Andrea, the Dee Bliss imposter, which then led to Toadie’s affair with Dee at exactly the same time that Sonya and Mark lost their daughter.

Basically it hasn’t been a great year for her!

Despite being off the wagon for a while now, Sonya has been able to keep it to herself.

But it became public knowledge this week when she started drinking at the council Morning Tea fundraiser.

Things went from bad to worse when Sonya was photographed by the West Waratah Star’s photographer, making it even more public. Poor Sonya!

Susan and Steph tried to help Sonya as the West Waratah Star’s photographer caught her in a compromising position!

But, it didn’t end there! The day after her public relapse at the council fundraiser, Sonya was hounded by press outside her home and Toadie was not happy when he saw the footage.

Not only did Sonya become extremely frustrated but Nell, who Sonya was carrying, was incredibly distressed by the whole incident.

This prompted Toadie to ask Sonya for custody of Nell, at least until she gets control of her sobriety.

Sonya and Nell were hounded by a TV crew.

Blurred lines

Ramsay Street celebrated Mother’s Day earlier this week and Xanthe went to great lengths to make this the best day ever for Brooke.

But, while Xanthe was organising a picnic for the two of them, Brooke was making other plans with Gary.

Gary and Brooke headed into the city to scope out the hotel that Jesse would be staying in, as they continue on with their plan to whisk Jesse away from her father to Erinsborough.

Meanwhile, a deflated Xanthe was left alone at her picnic, but it didn’t last long when Finn stumbled across her.

Despite Finn being her teacher, he decided to stay to keep Xanthe company and the pair ended up engrossed in conversation!

As they shared stories, it became evident that this is not the average student-teacher relationship.

Xanthe and Finn looked cosy at the picnic.

Dangerous game

Finn’s odd behavior didn’t end there this week. In his attempt to oust Susan as principal of Erinsborough High School, he decided to swap Susan’s vitamins for painkillers!

He stole the powerful painkillers from Piper and was caught in the act by Xanthe. But thanks to their bizarre friendship, Xanthe decided not to tell anyone.

Finn hopes that the painkillers will mimic Susan’s MS symptoms, which will force her to step down from her position leaving it free and clear for him.

Will Finn’s medication tampering leave Susan’s life in threat?
