Soap lovers rejoice!
The Royal Australian Mint and Australia Post have teamed up to create a collection of limited edition coins celebrating the best of the best of Aussie culture. And to make things even more iconic, there’s a Neighbours coin thrown in there.
There have been 26 limited edition coins released as part of The Great Aussie Coin Hunt which started on September 30 with six coins being released each Monday until 21 October.
To commemorate the A-Z of Australian icons, the $1 coins celebrate everything from a hills hoist to meat pies and will be available at 3,600 Australia Post Offices around the country.
But obviously, our favourite one is the Neighbours coin that shows the iconic Ramsay Street sign. It’s just a shame there isn’t a Home and Away one too!

Nicole Sheffield, Australia Post Executive General Manager Community and Consumer says: “Not only will it be really exciting to hunt for all the coins and build an amazing collection, but each and every coin opens up the opportunity for wonderful conversations about quintessential Australian life.
“It’s a great way for grandparents to connect with grandchildren, and for all of us to share our own experiences and memories with each other – both here and with friends and family overseas.”

This hasn’t been the only exciting Neighbours news we’ve heard as of late.
The iconic Aussie soap is getting its own high school-themed spin-off, entitled Neighbours: Erinsborough High, which is set to hit our screens from November 11 until November 15.
The new five-episode series, which will also air in the UK, was commissioned by British TV station Channel 5 and will screen on My5, Channel 5’s on-demand service, as well as Ten Play, in Australia.
“It will explore issues universally troubling teens today – bullying, mental illness, sexuality, cultural diversity, parental and peer pressure, and teacher-student relationships,” Neighbours‘ production company Fremantle said in a statement.
