Twelve months have passed since Bea Nilsson cautiously came looking for her half-sister Elly on Ramsay Street.
And Bea’s portrayer, Bonnie Anderson, has relished every moment of her first major acting gig on Neighbours.
“I really love what I do” the 24-year-old tells TV WEEK. “I’m so lucky.”
She adds that working with her on-screen family is often like being with her own flesh and blood.
“We spend so much time together every day, they feel like the real thing,” Bonnie explains.

While Bea was a fresh face in Erinsborough on May 18, 2018, many viewers already recognised Bonnie: the singer and actress was the first winner of Australia’s Got Talent in 2007.
Taking the title when she was just 12, she went on to tour with Aussie music legend Jimmy Barnes.
But, wanting to enjoy her childhood, the young singer-songwriter put her music career on hold.
“I wanted to grow up and learn my craft,” Bonnie explains. “I got to take a breath, learn guitar, piano and how to write songs.”

Now her worlds are colliding, with Bonnie’s singing talents shining through her character Bea.
“I wanted to keep music on the side from acting, but all of a sudden it just felt right to [bring it to the show],” Bonnie says.
Her latest single, “Sorry” was teased in a recent episode of Neighbours.
“It’s been a nice transition; the storyline has been quite organic,” Bonnie says. “It blows my mind how supportive the show is and how they believe in me.”
Neighbours airs weeknights, 6pm, on 10 Peach.
