Ensuring their children are happy with their dating choices is paramount for couple Kristy and Shane.
Heading into the final week of My Mum Your Dad, the pair will aim to seek the approval of their daughters Milli and Kayla at the blessing ceremony.
”I’m very nervous about how it will all play out,” Shane tells TV Week.
”I know that if Kayla doesn’t think Kristy is a hell yeah then it will be a hell no.”
Couple Kristy, 42, and Shane, 48, connected early in the show, meaning they had plenty of time to get to know one another. Kristy liked Shane’s kind nature, while Shane felt that she was the yin to his yang.
”Kristy brightens the room and my heart every time we talk and laugh together,” he says.
”She is a passionate person and we have common values.”
While Kristy and Shane have been dating, Milli and Kayla have been bonding like sisters too.
”Milli and Kayla were naturally drawn to one another, which is so strange because that was what it was like for Shane and I in our retreat,” says Kristy.
Shane agrees, adding: ”They are so close already and act like they are loving sisters.”
But Shane and Kristy’s relationship isn’t without its challenges with the pair living in different states.
”It will be a bit of flying back and forth for visits,” says Victorian-based Kristy.
”But I love a good weekend away, and Queensland is not a bad place to go.”
Despite the distance, both appear ready to commit.
”I am ready for a serious relationship but need someone who will complement my life, not complicate it,” says Kristy.
”I know Milli will welcome anyone I’m serious about dating, because to her, all she wants is to see me happy, because that’s what makes her happy. I’m hoping Kayla will like me, as I’ve heard she can be quite fussy with who her dad dates!”
The season finale airs Monday at 7:30pm on the Nine Network.
