But it looks like the oyster farmers from Victoria were set up to fail after its revealed they didn’t get to choose their final menu.

Contestants are required to supply a list of about 36 possible recipes to serve up at their instant restaurants and they only find out their theme and menu at 6pm the night before.

“Contestants are strongly encouraged to try unfamiliar techniques,” reveals the source. “This can have devastating effects.”

And this certainly was the case for best mates Rob and Matt who confessed they’d had no previous experience cooking quail before their Instant Restaurant.

After serving up their speciality of oysters as an entrée, the boys faced some tough criticism from judges Pete and Manu when they veered from their love of seafood to present prosciutto wrapped quail for the main course.

“You’ve definitely thrown yourselves in the deep end, and I don’t know if I can save you,” exclaimed Pete. “This isn’t a well sort out dish.”

“I do wish you had created a better menu for us this evening,” said Pete, questioning why they didn’t cook up a seafood feast.

In the end, the fella’s were sent home after scoring a disappointing 45/100.

“We’re coming out of this, I guess proud of the way we conducted ourselves, but disappointed with the dishes that we turned out,” said an upset Matt.
