Speaking to OK!, the Sydneysider says they had little choice but to play strategically after their rivals teamed up to have them ousted.
“When we went up against Bek and Ash in sudden death, Amy and Tyson, who were close with Tim and Kyle, sided with the girls,” he tells.
“They were trying to find out our game plan, and how much we were practising, so they could help their friends.”
The 32-year-old explains that it was this behaviour that caused him and Betty, 27, to be “secretive”.
“From then on, we knew we couldn’t really trust these people who were trying to take us out,” he shares.
David believes playing their own game soon made them a target.
“A few times Tim and Kyle had an advantage and would try to put us last… there were a few things that came up like that,” he tells.
However, Brisbane cook Amy, 30, denies any such agenda.
“I don’t think you can team up to get someone out… I’m not sure how you would do that,” she says.
She’s also sticking to her claim that David and Betty were outsiders because they didn’t play fair.
“They were always trying to throw people off… [making] other people feel like they may not succeed,” Amy reveals. “The rest of us weren’t like that.”
