Two-part documentary series Michael Hutchence: The Last Rockstar is simply brilliant.
Retelling the story of the INXS frontman Michael Hutchence’s life isn’t new.
But what viewers will see in this new documentary has never been seen, heard, or spoken about before. And it will take your breath away.
From recordings of songs to lyrics written moments before his death, this is the most raw, emotional and real look at Michael’s life and death.
The previously unseen video of Michael with his daughter, Tiger Lily, as a baby will stay with you long after the credits roll.
The touching image of the singer and his daughter Tiger Lily shows a tender moment, with a baby Tiger Lily fast asleep on his chest.
November 22 marks the 20th anniversary of the singer’s death and this new documentary gives us a never-before-seen look into the INXS frontman’s final days.
Channel Seven executive producer Mark Llewellyn worked on the doco for two years.
He was given unprecedented access to the singer’s journals, private photos, home movies and several of his other prized possessions.
The home videos even include footage of Michael celebrating Christmas with his former girlfriend, supermodel Helena Christensen.
Surprisingly, INXS has distanced itself from the documentary saying they weren’t approached about it, releasing the following statement:
“Universal Music Group, Petrol Records and the members of INXS have today confirmed that they were never approached for their opinion, consultation of the content, participation or comment in relation to the Michael Hutchence documentary on the Seven Network.”
The biggest drawcard of the documentary is the rock star’s final words.
They’re believed to be a set of lyrics found in the Sydney hotel room where he died aged 37.
Every aspect of this documentary has been painstakingly researched.
Featuring interviews with family members and friends such as U2 frontman Bono, this is an access-all-areas pass you won’t want to miss.
