Luke, who played the beloved Romeo Smith on Home and Away from 2009 to 2013, is set to star in the upcoming military legal drama as Captain John ‘Abe’ Abraham.

The U.S. network says the series “follows an elite team of JAG (Judge Advocate General) attorneys who each must each prove themselves as a prosecutor, a defence lawyer, an investigator—and a Marine.”

The Australian actor is taking over the role from Brothers and Sisters star Dave Annable, who originally played the part in the pilot. The character is described as a driven prosecutor, who is following his long family tradition as a Marine.

Luke, 33, joins the cast alongside Anna Wood (The Following), Ato Essandoh (Elementary, Jason Bourne), Phillipa Soo (Blue Night) and Raffi Barsoumian (The Vampire Diaries).

Luke has enjoyed incredible success since making the move to the States. He starred as John Young in the CW’s The Tomorrow People for two years, in 2015 he joined the cast of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and he was most recently seen in NBC’s Blindspot.

The actor celebrated the announcement of his new role in The Code with a cheeky Tweet.

“Mum, Dad… I’m gonna be a lawyer,” he wrote on Twitter.

His proud wife, fellow actress and former Home and Away star Rebecca Breeds, re-tweeted his post.

“Yeah Baby!!!” she wrote. “That’s my sexy Lawyer!”

No word yet on whether or not the series will be picked up by an Australian network, but here’s hoping!

Luke isn’t the only former Home and Away star doing well in Hollywood at the moment, you know, aside from Chris Hemsworth, Isla Fisher and Samara Weaving (the list really does go on!).

Luke’s close friend Lincoln Younes recently scored a role in Eva Longoria’s new series Grand Hotel. Meanwhile, his other pal Todd Lasance has landed an exciting role back at home, starring in Nine Network’s new drama series Bite Club.

Our Australian actors truly are ones to watch in 2018!
