A future queen of England and a US reality TV star were perhaps never going to be the best of pals, but recent events may have settled that once and for all.
Bootylicious Kim Kardashian is reported to have sent the Duchess of Cambridge a huge package of free clothing from her new fashion label when recently over in the UK, only to have the clothes sent straight back to sender.
According to The Examiner, Kate graciously declined the gift, returning them immediately to the famous TV star. The clothing range, which consists largely of leopard-skin prints, gold sequins and figure-hugging silhouettes, was certainly not in keeping with the princess’ usual elegant style – nor perhaps appropriate for the future monarch.
“Kate is hardly going to turn up for an event with the Queen in a cheap miniskirt or gold sequined jacket,” a palace insider told the magazine.
Sources say that Kim has been itching to befriend the royal brunette for a while, and even recently invited Kate over for tea. In an interview with Now Magazine, Kim revealed she was a huge fan of the Duchess’ style.
“Kate seems like a really sweet person… We love her sense of fashion. She could wear our looks and team it with one of our hats.”
Certainly a friendship between the pair would have been a perfect way to raise the profile of the Kardashians in the UK, and the Kardashian Kollection brand which was launched earlier this year.
A representative of Kate, however, told the Daily Mail that “the policy of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is not to accept any unsolicited gifts unless the sender is known personally to His or Her Royal Highness. Any such gifts are returned to the sender with thanks and an explanation of Their Royal Highnesses’ policy.”
