Hot off appearances from Magda Szubanski and Debra Lawrance, Neighbours is adding another stellar name to their list of guest star roles – Kerry Armstrong.
“Kerry is a legend of Australian film and television and we are honoured to have her in Neighbours,” the show’s executive producer, Jason Herbison says.
The award winning actress, most recently seen in hit drama The Wrong Girl, will be arriving to Ramsay Street in October. And her character, Alice Wells, is set to cause quite the stir.
The seemingly sweet nanna is said to have one sensationally devious plan for her new neighbours.
“Alice is a character who pushes every boundary and is a force to be reckoned with,” Kerry, 60, teases. “There is a lot of encouragement [from producers] to see who she is and how far she can go.”
The actress made history back in 2001 when she received two AACTA awards for separate performances in TV series SeaChange and Mystery Drama film Lantana. She was also recently nominated as Best Supporting Actress for her role as Jennifer in feature film Pawno.
Despite her status as an award-winning actress, Kerry says finding her feet on set took a little time.
“I like being kept on my toes and liked finding out how rusty I was,” she recalls.
“I thought oh my god if this was the Wizard of Oz, I’m definitely the Tin Man trying desperately to head towards Toto”, she says with a laugh.
Audiences haven’t had to wait long to see Kerry back on their screens, after she made her appearance in the jungle on reality show I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! earlier this year.
We can’t wait to see Kerry in her exciting new role!
Neighbours airs weeknights at 6:30pm on Eleven.
