ABC has confirmed that Roseanne will return to screens in 2018.
Rumours of a revival circulated last month as Roseanne Barr took to Twitter writing, “Of course I want to do a reboot of Roseanne. New political reality in our country will make for some great jokes.”
The show was hailed in the ’90s for its realistic representation of a blue-collar working class American family. We can expect to see the Conner’s continue to struggle with the challenges of living pay check to pay check in 2018.
“The Conners’ joys and struggles are as relevant – and hilarious – today as they were then, and there’s really no one better to comment on our modern America than Roseanne,” said ABC Entertainment chief Channing Dungey of the revival.
However, by the looks of things, we can expect a few key differences this time around.
According the Deadline, the reboot will star Roseanne Barr (Roseanne), John Goodman (Dan), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (D.J.) and Lecy Goranson (Becky).
Sarah Chalke, who played Becky in the original seasons will also return, however in a different role, the details of which are being kept under wraps.
The other big news is that Roseanne’s husband Dan is still alive. It’s a Jon Snow style resurrection all over again and we are so on board.
In the season nine finale, it was revealed that Dan had died of a heart attack. However, Roseanne Barr has conveniently come up with ways for his character to return should there ever be a revival…
In a blog post in 2009, she suggested that Dan had faked his own death. To be honest, we’re so excited that it’s coming back we’re open to forgiving some potentially questionable plot lines.

The green light has been given for eight new episodes. The reboot will be produced by the original team including Roseanne Barr, Sara Gilbert, Tom Werner, Bruce Helford, Whitney Cummings and Tony Hernandez.
