Forgetting the lyrics, falling off stage or simply failing to hit the high notes are just some of the fears every artist experiences before stepping onto a global stage.
Unfortunately, those fears were realised for Australia’s contestant Isaiah Firebrace during his semi-final performance at Eurovision.
Thankfully, however, his mistake was overlooked and he progressed to the grand final. Hoorah!
On stage, the 17-year-old singer was breezing his way through his performance of “Don’t Come Easy” when he unexpectedly failed to hit a high-note midway through the song.
While he managed to recover, the star was left to wonder whether he had blown his chances of progressing in the competition.
Not to mention, it was then shown to audiences once more as producers recapped each performance.
If he was eliminated, it would be a shock exit for the contest. Isaiah is a strong contender to win.
“His voice is insane, he really is incredible and I think he’s going to really surprise people, “says SBS host Joel Creasey.
“He’s got a great voice, I love the song, and he’s a really nice guy.”
After a 90-minute wait, Isaiah was thrilled when it was announced he had made it to the Grand Final. T
his is the third time Australia has made it to the final with past contestants Guy Sebastian and Dam Im both making it to the end.
Australia will be joined by Italy, Germany, UK, Spain and France and host country Ukraine – all of whom automatically qualify for the grand final.
Former The Voice contestant Anja Nissen is also a chance of making it through. She is competing for Denmark in the second semi-final, which takes place tomorrow.
