No wonder poor Marilyn (Emily Symons) was left wondering whether her husband, John (Shane Withington) would ever be the same. Elsewhere, VJ (Matt Little) and Ash (George Mason) spent much of the week in hostile territory. Here’s how the drama unfolded…
FIRED UP
As fans know, John has not been in his right mind of late. He was the arsonist who lit the bushfire, which ultimately claimed Billie’s life. But, he has no knowledge of committing the crime. This week, a hoodie-wearing John was about to set the Boat Shop alight until Alf (Ray Meagher) unwittingly stopped him. Alf later went to see Marilyn, asking whether she thought John had been acting a little odd. She had thought he was a bit moody of late. But, it was much more than that. Eventually, John succumbed to his condition, collapsing on the floor. The diagnosis was John had a brain tumour.
ANGRY BOYS
Ash and VJ were hurting over Billie’s (Tessa de Josselin) death this week. The two looked set to tear each other to pieces, but their moods thawed. After all, they had a funeral to plan. Ash sought out VJ and apologised for the recent bad blood. And, he no longer blamed VJ for Billie’s death. He even agreed to have his sister cremated. United they might be now, but there was an ominous sign of possible things to come when VJ overheard Kat’s (Pia Miller) theory that John is the firebug. Will he and Ash seek revenge against John?
