Morning television is serving up the news with an extra side of drama next week, because the cast of Home and Away will be taking over Sunrise all week long!
From Monday 30th of July, five of your Summer Bay favourites will be taking over weather presenting duties. They will be delivering daily forecasts and fun from a surprise location each morning.
The Summer Bay Sunrise program will feature Ray Meagher (Alf Stewart), James Stewart (Justin Morgan), Penny McNamee (Tori Morgan), Ada Nicodemou (Leah Patterson), and Lynne McGranger (Irene Roberts).
From our main man Ray, we hope to hear a weather report along the lines of “Stone the flamin’ crows, it’s a ripper day in Summer Bay!”
Sunrise Executive Producer, Michael Pell, says the guest presenters will be an exciting addition.
“Home and Away is the country’s favourite drama and we look forward to bringing some of the show’s biggest stars to Sunrise every morning next week. It’s going to be a fantastic five days.”
We’re used to seeing our favourite stars in dramatic situations in Summer Bay, however, as the stars celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary year, fans have been treated to a series of new real-life moments with the actors.
Most recently, the cast gathered for the Home and Away: Endless Summer special.
Hosted by Sunday Night’s Steve Pennells, the special featured interviews with Home and Away alums including Kate Ritchie, Melissa George, Dieter Brummer, and, of course, Ray Meagher.
Of being on the show for 30 years, Ray says “it’s a huge honour.”
“The fact we’ve been going for 30 years and people are still watching us and still interested in the show is just wonderful,” he tells TV WEEK. “It does mean a lot to us.
“Like everybody else we go to work every day and just do it, and you lose sight of the fact that if there weren’t people out there who were watching, we don’t go to work every day.
“We don’t have a job if there aren’t people watching us and we’re incredibly grateful to all of those people who have watched us for all the years.”
Sunrise’s Summer Bay Breakfast airs live from 5:30am every morning next week on Channel Seven and 7PLUS.
