Another day, another announcement of a reboot happening.
Just yesterday we reported there was a revival for Party of Five, and today it’s the news of witchy comedy, Hocus Pocus.
According to Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker), in his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts. It’s up to Max, his sister and a talking cat to put them back in the ground.
The Hocus Pocus revival is being penned by Scarlett Lacy (The Royals) and executive produced by David Krichner, who also produced the original.
It’ll involve a whole new cast and new director. Kenny Ortega who directed the original movie and hit Disney franchises like High School Musical and The Descendants has not signed on.
It’s not yet known what the storyline or expected release date will be, but Bette and Sarah have previously expressed interest in a reboot.
Sarah spoke to host of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen, last year, saying: “I would love that … I think we’ve all been fairly vocal about being very keen, but that hasn’t created any ground swell of movement.”
Bette also spoke up, telling Billboard in 2016: “You don’t get to see women doing slapstick too much, and in the movie you can see that we’re having a blast. For the life of me, I can’t understand why there’s not a sequel.”
