According to TV Tonight, production company Fremantle is currently in talks with the format owners of the popular 90s series as it eyes off a way to bring the show back.

Following the lives of students and teachers at the fictional Hartley High, the series debuted on Channel Ten in 1994 before switching networks to the ABC two years later until it was axed in 1999.

Spanning seven seasons and 210 episodes, the show was an Australian and international success and aired in more than 30 countries.

The show launched the career of actors who have gone on to make high-profile names for themselves in the Australian acting industry, including Salvatore Coco, Alex Dimitriades, Ada Nicodemou, Luke Jacobz and Callan Mulvey.

Speaking to Woman’s Day last year, 44-year-old Salvatore, who played Con, suggested the possibility of a revival could be on the cards.

“I know the fans want it,” he said. “I’d be up for it – it’d be hilarious to revisit Con. I’m sure he’d be in sales now, for sure!”

The actor added that despite the show first gracing our screens 26 years ago, he is asked about his stint as Con often.

“People stop me every weekend to talk about the show and ask to take photos with Con, my character,” Sal revealed.

He added: “It was gritty, and covered topics and broke boundaries other teen shows at the time shied away from, like drugs, homelessness and racism… and it felt real.”

The cast stuck up a bond so strong that most remain close.

“It was special,” Sal admitted.

Rumours of a Heartbreak High remake being shopped around gained traction in October 2019 after Dutch production company NewBe secured worldwide English-language rights to the show.
