When she first met Ronnie at a bar in Perth, Georgia from The Block Australia says she had reservations about him being a single father.

“I was like, ‘Dude, I’m 21 – I’m way too young to be a step-mum,’” Georgia, 33, recalls of the moment.

Yet Ronnie, now 41, persisted. Eventually, he charmed Georgia into dating him.

As for getting to know Ronnie’s son Giordano, now 16, Georgia says the couple wanted to ensure the process went smoothly.

“Raising children in step-families is tricky,” Georgia says. “But we were really proactive about counselling.”

While dating, the couple did a course
on blended families with counselling experts Relationships Australia. The couple encourage others
in a similar situation
to consider it.

“It was a really great thing,” Georgia says.

Since then, the pair have had two children together: Leo, four, and two-year-old Charlotte.

“Giordy is a massive part of our lives,” Georgia smiles. “He’s so good with our kids.”
