Sunrise weather girl Edwina Bartholomew is fast becoming a fan favourite thanks to her down-to-earth attitude, which was recently reinforced when she flew a budget airline on the show’s recent trip to Hawaii.

Edwina’s Sunrise colleagues, including co-anchors Sam Armytage and David Koch plus Natalie Barr and Mark Beretta, all lived it up in Qantas business class alongside the show’s Executive Producer Michael Pell.

Edwina meanwhile, travelled like ‘one of the people’, on budget airline Jetstar. In addition, the Daily Telegraph reports that Edwina was forced to hail a cab when she touched down at Sydney airport while the rest of the cast were all picked up in style by drivers.

Network Seven were quick to deny any snubbing, with a spokeswoman telling the Daily Telegraph: “Edwina and her crew travelled via Jetstar, as they do each week, wherever their locations take them.”

“It’s a big broadcast and camera kit that has to travel with them.

“And — it’s an ongoing, week-in, week-out arrangement.”

In regards to her DIY taxi trip back home, the spokesman said: “Everyone makes their own plans on arrivals back into Sydney. Edwina chose the taxi option. Others made their own arrangements.”

Edwina might not get favoured when it comes to the show’s fringe-benefits, but she’s certainly favoured by Sunrise fans!

When Edwina recently filled in Sam Armytage’s hosting role alongside Kochie as the network’s current superstar took off on leave, she was inundated with positive feedback via fans on social media. Popstar Ricki-Lee even called her “a ray of sunshine”.

Insiders say Edwina is a hot-favourite to replace Sam, who has recently been accused of diva behaviour on set. But if Edwina’s travel conditions are anything to go by she’s still got a way to go before she scores all the perks of the top job!

Hardworking Edwina meanwhile jetted off to report on the devastation wreaked by cyclone in Vanuatu this week, posting this snap: “First commercial flight to Vanuatu after #cyclonepam. Full of media and some Aussies returning home to their families #sun7”

The show’s current star-favourite Sam Armytage and Natalie Barr meanwhile shared this snap alongside a private jet chartered for co-host Kochie’s birthday while they were on the island.

Sam captioned this snap: ‘I mean, commercial flights are so yesterday…”
