Social media went into overdrive earlier this week after Ed Sheeran made a cameo appearance in the first episode of Game Of Thronesโ season seven.
Unfortunately not all comments made about Edโs performance were positive and shortly after he deleted his Twitter account, leading many to believe it was related to the GOT backlash.
Of course, Edโs decision to delete his Twitter after the GOT episode aired caused even more of an uproar online as fans reacted to his sudden disappearance.
Ed is now back on the social media platform, but upon re-entering Twitter Ed had deleted all of his tweets, except three which date back to 2013 and about 20 from this month.
He has since clarified why he deleted most of his tweets with this message:
Either way, it seems that Ed isnโt a big fan of Twitter. His bio reads:
โI donโt use this anymore, please follow me on @teddysphotos on Instagram, lots of love xโ
Earlier in the month Ed told British publication The Sun that he had stopped using Twitter due to nasty comments.
โIโve actually come off Twitter completely. I canโt read it,โ he said.
โI go on it and thereโs nothing but people saying mean things. Twitterโs a platform for that. One comment ruins your day.โ
The 26-year-old singer appeared in Game Of Thrones as a Lannister soldier who meets Arya Stark.
The scene begins with Ed and his fellow soldiers sitting around a campfire whilst Ed sings.
The group offers Arya, played by Maisie Williams, something to eat and drink whilst she sits next to Ed on a log.
Edโs performance is subtle and thereโs nothing offensive about it, but unfortunately it seems that the internet canโt appreciate a good thing when it happens.
Fingers crossed we see Ed on the small screen again sometime soon!
