She may have only played Home And Away’s Emma Jackson for a year, but Dannii Minogue will forever be Summer Bay royalty.
The iconic Aussie drama is celebrating 30 years on air – almost the same length of time since Dannii appeared on the show. And now, the actress, singer and television presenter teases that it’s about time for a comeback.
“I really, really want to!” Dannii tells TV WEEK. “We keep talking about it, but it hasn’t come to fruition yet.”
Dannii revisited her days in Summer Bay as part of the recent special Endless Summer: 30 Years Of Home And Away. And the trip down memory lane only fuelled her desire to return.
“It did spark that passion of what it would be like to go back,” Dannii says.
“I have an idea of what I would do, but I don’t know if I’m way off the mark with what fans would want.”
Keeping tight-lipped on her plans, she does reveal she has one condition for her homecoming.
“Ray Meagher would have to be there,” she says of the TV WEEK Logie-winning actor who has played Alf Stewart for 30 years. “I can’t imagine it without him!”
In the meantime, Dannii has been on the set of Channel Seven’s new reality show, Dance Boss. She says she couldn’t be more thrilled to be hosting the series.
“For a long time I’d been looking for something that had been shiny for entertainment,” Dannii explains.
“The first big excitement was that it’s a topic I love. It felt like a good opportunity to create something from scratch.”
The 46-year-old hosts the dance show alongside celebrity judges Sharni Vinson, Adam Garcia and Timomatic. It sees co-workers from various professions come together to boogie down and battle it out for a grand prize of $100,000.
Dannii explains the idea for the show came from the popularity of viral videos.
“There are a lot of people uploading videos of them dancing in their lounge room,” she says. “Everyone’s into it.
“We wanted to bring that into a big, shiny-floor TV show, because there’s a magic in it and it hadn’t been explored.”
Dance Boss premieres Monday 6th of August at 7:30pm on Channel Seven. Get to know the contestants in our gallery here.
