When news broke that former Home And Away star Rebecca Breeds had landed the lead role in huge new American series, Clarice, AND it had been picked up by juggernaut TV broadcaster CBS, we were collectively jumping for joy.
Only adding to excitement months later came the goosebump-inducing trailer for the show, which is an extension of hit franchise Silence of the Lambs.
Our only trepidation was how us Aussies would get to watch the American-made series down under.
Thankfully, that concern has now been fully quelled.
Stan has today announced Clarice will be launching exclusively on the streaming site from February 12 – same day as the U.S.
Cue the countdown!
Rebecca plays the iconic lead role of FBI agent Clarice Starling, previously played by Jodie Foster in 1991’s Silence of the Lambs and Julianne Moore in 2001’s Hannibal.
The TV series itself is described as “a deep dive into the untold personal story of brilliant and vulnerable FBI Agent Clarice Starling as she returns to the field in 1993, six months after the events of The Silence of the Lambs.”
In the first short teaser, which dropped in December, we see a crime scene where a body is being pulled from a river, cut with clips of a butterfly (an iconic symbol from the films) before a male voice asks: “What do you do with all your rage?”
Talk about CREEPY.
Rebecca previously played Ruby Buckton on Home and Away from 2008 to 2012 and met her now husband Luke Mitchell on the set of the soap.
Speaking to TV WEEK in 2019, Luke credited his wife as being the key to his international success.
“I don’t think I could have done what I’ve done overseas if it weren’t for Bec,” Luke said, adding, “I’m a very lucky guy.”
