When Steve Price entered the South African jungle, he had one person in mind – his The Project co-host Carrie Bickmore.
As a friend and colleague of the 36-year-old who lost her husband Greg to brain cancer in 2010, Steve’s mission was to be the last man standing and win the $100,000 prize money for Carrie’s charity Beanies 4 Brain Cancer. But while he may not have been crowned king of the jungle, Carrie couldn’t be more proud.
“You have blown my mind,” the Gold-Logie award-winning host wrote in a text message to Steve just hours after he was eliminated.
“Steve, you are amazing.”
Carrie’s words meant the world to Steve, who told TV WEEK he was planning to call her this afternoon.
“I’m going to give her a call after I get off the phone to you guys,” Steve says, adding he still feels a bit disappointed with the results.
“It would have been nice to go a bit further and to take home the $100,000 for Carrie’s charity, but we will still raise the funds on the outside. That I know for sure.”
