As Home And Away love stories go, “Bricky” was one for the ages. It was the tale of the bad boy with the good heart and the woman who tried to tame him.

For Bonnie, her character Ricky’s turbulent but ultimately triumphant romance with Brax (Stephen Peacocke) was perfect.

“I gave a lot to Ricky and I really adored that time of my life,” Bonnie, 29, tells TV WEEK. “The way it ended, with everything working out with Brax, was a beautiful happily-ever-after.”

Not that everything went exactly as Bonnie would have liked. She recalls a particularly embarrassing moment while filming at Sydney’s Palm Beach.

“I have memories of being dunked by a wave in Home And Away,” she laughs. “And I was supposed to be seducing Stephen!”

Mishaps aside, Bonnie is proud to be part of the legacy of the long-running show.

Home And Away is a very important part of the Australian fabric, and I feel that,” she says. “It was an honour [to be a part of the show].”

The star bid farewell to the Bay in 2016, sharing the news in an Instagram post.

“And so… It is with a sad but proud heart I announce the end of my Home & Away journey,” she penned.

“If someone had told me 10 years ago that I’d be playing a staunch, surfy chick in Summer Bay (and that it would bring me more joy than I could imagine) I wouldn’t have believed them.”

Since then you may have spotted Bonnie in The Secret Daughter as Layla Chapple, best friend and backup singer to Jessica Mauboy’s character Billie.
