When it comes to great comedians, we’re not short on talent here in Australia. So it’s unsurprising Amazon Prime Video has commissioned 10 stand-up specials from some of our brightest and, of course, funniest comedians.
Slated for release in 2020, the impressive line-up includes: Joy from TV WEEK Gold Logie winner Tom Gleeson, All Talk from Celia Pacquola, Self-Diagnosed Genius from Tommy Little, Judith Lucy vs Men from Judith Lucy, Fly from Lano & Woodley, What’s Wrong with You? from Anne Edmonds, Bossy Bottom from Zoë Coombs Marr, Very Very from Tom Walker, Live from Dilruk Jayasinha; and Savage from Alice Fraser.
The Australian Amazon Original specials are set to be filmed in Melbourne’s Coopers Malthouse Theatre before premiering, not just down under, but in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.
“These are hilarious performances that we know our customers will love in Australia and around the world,” James Farrell, Head of International Originals for Amazon Studios said. “We’re looking forward to welcoming this talented group of Australian comedians to the Prime Video Family.”
Amazon Prime Video has also teamed with Guessworks Television to produce the specials, known best for hilarious and brilliant series such as Nanette by the talented Hannah Gadsby, Please Like Me, Hard Quiz, and Get Krack!n. All but assuring, we’re in for some spectacular television.
This will be the second original series from Amazon Prime’s Australian division after recently announcing their new upcoming comedy LOL: Last One Laughing, which sees ten comedians face off in a battle to make each other laugh first.
