Last October, co-presenter Barry Du Bois shared his battle with cancer on the popular weekly show.

But backstage at the Logies, things got even more emotional as he told how co-star Amanda Keller was โ€œeverythingโ€ to him.

โ€œShe means an incredible amount to me,โ€ the building expert and TV personality said. โ€œWe are a family. Sheโ€™s been my soulmate from the second we met.โ€

Barry, 57, said heโ€™s had โ€œamazing supportโ€ from his three co-presenters.

โ€œItโ€™s brought us even closer together,โ€ he said.

Amanda, 56, believes Barryโ€™s story has โ€œtouched so many peopleโ€.

โ€œThereโ€™s a lot of love for this show,โ€ she said. โ€œAnd much of that is to do with him.

โ€œWhen Barry shared that his cancer had returned and what treatment lay ahead, I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve ever seen television as real as that.

โ€œThat touched a lot of peopleโ€™s hearts, because he wanted to help and inspire other people. His work is amazing.โ€

โ€œWe hope it makes them feel a bit better to realise that, even though weโ€™re up on that stage getting these things [awards], we have ups and downs too.โ€

Dr Chris Brown said Barryโ€™s health battle had shaped their year on The Living Room.

โ€œItโ€™s all we think about, to be honest,โ€ Chris, 39, said. โ€œThe show comes second to Barry and his health.โ€

Miguel Maestre, 38, explained that the four co-hosts try to be together as much as they can.

โ€œThereโ€™s a lot of fake things out there in this world โ€“ not just in TV, but in life,โ€ he pointed out. โ€œBut we are great friends.โ€
